CCSA Announces Women’s Swimmer

and Diver of the Week

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Florida Gulf Coast’s Leah Daniel and Karmin McNamara have been named the CCSA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Jan. 11-17, it was announced today by the League. 

 

Daniel, a sophomore from Winnipeg, Manitoba, propelled the Eagles to a perfect 4-0 record this past week and to an unblemished 6-0 CCSA mark on the year.  She began her week by winning the 200 free (1:56.55) and the 500 free (5:11.58) in Tuesday’s dual meet win over Radford.  On Friday at Georgia Southern’s quad meet, Daniel won the 1650 free in a time of 17:16.91, seven seconds ahead of the field.  She also took second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.81.  On Saturday, she concluded her week by winning the 500 free in 5:05.12 and swimming the second leg of the first-place 400 free relay team (3:32.62).

 

McNamara, a junior from Tampa, Fla., helped the Eagles to a sweep of three CCSA schools at the Georgia Southern quad meet this past weekend.  She got FGCU off to a good start, winning the opening event, the 1-meter diving competition, with a score of 245.00.  On Saturday, she placed second in the 3-meter event, finishing with a 224.65, just 1.15 out of first-place. 

 

Also nominated for Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Grace Herlong (College of Charleston), Lindsey Martin (Davidson), Rachel Warkentin (Gardner-Webb), Courtney Martz (Georgia Southern) and Emily Turner (Radford).
