CCSA Announces Men’s Swimmer

and Diver of the Week

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – College of Charleston’s Matt Sherrier and Peter Gibbons have been named the CCSA Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Jan. 11-17, it was announced today by the League. 

 

Sherrier, a sophomore from Boulder, Colo., collected three impressive victories against Division III powerhouse Emory University this past weekend.  He dominated the freestyle events as he posted times of 47.33, 1:43.22 and 4:46.42 to claim top honors in the 100-, 200- and 500-meter events, respectively.  Sherrier picks up his third CCSA Swimmer of the Week plaudit of the season. 

 

Gibbons, a freshman from Fairfax, Va., continued his outstanding rookie campaign picking up two runner-up honors against Emory in the 1-meter (267.38) and 3-meter dives (237.15).  Both scores were Gibbons’ highest point totals of the season.  He missed the top spot in the 1-meter event by just 2.85 points.  Gibbons adds to his CCSA single-season record with his seventh Diver of the Week award this season.
