Men’s Swimming and Diving

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – College of Charleston’s Matthew Sherrier has been named the CCSA Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while College of Charleston’s Peter Gibbons has been named the CCSA Men’s Diver of the Week, for meets competed Jan. 4-10, it was announced today by the League. 

 

Sherrier, a sophomore from Boulder, Colo., led the way for the Cougars with four individual titles last week against Florida A&M and South Carolina.  He began his week on Jan. 7 against Florida A&M, earning top honors in the 200 IM (2:14.82) and 100 free (49.29) as the Cougars knocked off the Rattlers, 103-30.  Sherrier followed that performance with two more first-place finishes against the Gamecocks on Jan. 9.  He notched top times of 47.29 and 1:42.53 in the 100 free and 200 free, respectively.

 

Gibbons, a freshman from Fairfax, Va., had strong performances off the boards last Saturday against a tough South Carolina club.  He took first-place in the 3-meter competition with a score of 205.05 and finished third in the 1-meter event posting a score of 230.18.  Gibbons continues a great rookie campaign receiving his sixth CCSA Diver of the Week honor of the season.
