CCSA Announces Women’s Swimmer

and Diver of the Week

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb’s Kim Zachensky and Radford’s Katie Shaffer have been named the CCSA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Nov. 16-22, it was announced today by the League.  

 

Zachensky, a freshman from Marietta, Ga., broke two CCSA records, as well as five school records this past weekend at the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta, Ga.  Her second place finished of 1:03.29 in the 100 yard breaststroke set a Conference record, as well as her team’s time of 1:43.85 in the 200 yard medley relay.  Her 6th place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke, with a time of 2:19.49, set a school record, including her split times in the 200 yard medley relay (28.79) and 400 yard medley relay (1:02.02).

 

Shaffer, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va., placed second in both the 1- and 3-meter events at last weekend’s Highlander Invitational.  She recorded a score of 231.60 off the 1-meter board and a 236.55 in the 3-meter competition.  Shaffer’s 3-meter score marks the third time of the season she has eclipsed 235 points.  

 

Also nominated for women’s Swimmer of the Week: Emma Eisler (Campbell), Caitlin Shepherd (College of Charleston) and Emily Turner (Radford).
