CCSA Announces Women’s

Swimmer and Diver of the Week

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Florida’s Lyn Ann Nelson and teammate Julia Moomaw have been named the CCSA’s Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week for meets competed Oct. 19-25, it was announced today by the League. 

 

Nelson, a junior from Omaha, Neb., collected three individual first-place finishes along with a second-place relay finish last weekend to lead North Florida over CCSA opponents College of Charleston and Georgia Southern.  Nelson began her day setting a school record in the 1,000 free, touching in 10:22.64 -- over six seconds faster than her nearest opponent.  In her second event of the day, she claimed the 100 free with a time of 53.00.  Nelson finished her day a perfect 3-0 individually with a victory in the 500 free with a time of 5:07.03.  She also swam the anchor leg on the 200 free relay team that finished less that one second behind first. 

 

Moomaw, a freshman from Orlando, Fla., competed and won her first two collegiate events, claiming wins in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives over a pair of CCSA opponents last Saturday.  In the 1-meter dive, she tallied 228.65 points to win the event by 16.05, and followed that with a 224.70 score on the 3-meter board. 

 

Also nominated for women’s Swimmer of the Week: Ashlyn Stumpf (Campbell), Sara Gardocki (College of Charleston), Lindsey Martin (Davidson), Corey Hughey (Gardner-Webb), Lauren Parr (Georgia Southern), Myriam Plante (Florida Gulf Coast) and Emily Turner (Radford),

 

Also nominated for women’s Diver of the Week: Alden Lynch (Georgia Southern).
