CCSA Announces Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Georgia Southern’s Courtney Martz and teammate Alden Lynch have been named the CCSA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Nov. 2-8, it was announced today by the League.
Martz, a senior from Woodbine, Ga., led the way for Georgia Southern with four first-place finishes as the Eagles defeated CCSA member Campbell last Friday, 199-63. Martz first teamed with Lauren Parr, Caitlin Martin and Caroline Bevillard to break a pool record in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:59.60. She followed that up with another pool record in the 200 back, touching in 2:06.14 -- more than six seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Martz continued her great day with first-place finishes in the 50 free (24.36) and 200 free relay (1:39.55).
Lynch, a freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., earned top honors on the 1- and 3-meter boards in the Eagles’ victory over Campbell this past weekend. She won both diving events, scoring a 188.85 in the 1-meter dive and a career-best 223.45 in the 3-meter dive. The CCSA honor is the first of her career.
Also nominated for women’s Swimmer of the Week: Casey Umberger (Campbell), Gracie Herlong (College of Charleston), Lindsey Martin (Davidson), Rachel Warkentin (Gardner-Webb) and Amanda Anderson (North Florida).
