CCSA ANNOUNCES WOMEN’S

SWIMMER AND DIVER OF THE WEEK

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Florida Gulf Coast’s Leah Daniel and Radford’s Katie Shaffer have been named the CCSA’s Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Oct. 12-18, it was announced today by the League. 

 

Daniel, a sophomore from Manitoba, Canada, led the Eagles to their first-ever victory over the University of Miami at FGCU’s tri-meet that included Florida State.  She won the 1000 free by nearly five seconds with a time of 10:12.89.  Daniel then captured another win, finishing the 500 free in 4:59.12, to win by more than four seconds.  She capped off her day with a second place finish in the 400 IM, touching in 4:30.32. 

 

Shaffer, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va., was a double-winner on both the 1- and 3-meter boards against College of Charleston.  In the 1-meter competition, she recorded a score of 202.64 and broke her previous school record by 11 points.  Shaffer also placed first in the 3-meter dive with 222.60 points. 

 

Also nominated for women’s Swimmer of the Week: Jackie Kenline (Campbell), Sara Gardocki (College of Charleston), Lindsey Martin (Davidson), Kim Zachensky (Gardner-Webb), Chelsea Andrews (Howard) and Emily Turner (Radford).

 

Also nominated for women’s Diver of the Week: Linnea Buttermore (Davidson) and Karmin McNamara (Florida Gulf Coast).
