CCSA ANNOUNCES MEN’S

SWIMMER AND DIVER OF THE WEEK

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – College of Charleston’s Randy Buchanan and College of Charleston’s Peter Gibbons have been named the CCSA’s Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Oct. 26-Nov. 1, it was announced today by the League.

 

Buchanan, a senior from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., earned a pair of top individual finishes as the Cougars earned a dual-meet victory over CCSA opponent Davidson last Saturday.  He posted a first-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 47.12, which is tops in the CCSA.  Buchanan took top honors again in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.44.  He also swam the breaststroke leg of the 400 medley relay with a 56.63 split time to take home the relay victory for the Cougars. 

 

Gibbons, a freshman from Fairfax, Va., helped College of Charleston dominate the diving portion against the Wildcats.  He took home first-place honors in the 1-meter dive (202.28 points) and second-place honors in the 3-meter dive (176.85).  Gibbons did all this while diving with five stitches in his leg.  

 

Also nominated for men’s Swimmer of the Week: Drew Onken (Davidson), Jules Graham (Howard), and Will Rowcliffe (VMI).

 

Also nominated for men’s Diver of the Week: Jeff Jankowski (College of Charleston).
