CCSA ANNOUNCES WOMEN’S SWIMMER AND DIVER OF THE WEEK

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Davidson junior Lindsey Martin (Dalton, Ga.) and Florida Gulf Coast sophomore Stephanie Young (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) have been selected as the CCSA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed the opening weekend of the season, it was announced today by the League.

 

Martin opened her 2009-10 season by winning a pair of individual events and contributed to a pair of winning relays in Davidson’s season opener against Clemson.  She began her day winning the 50 free with a time of 23.76 and the 100 free with a time of 52.99.  Martin also swam the anchor leg of both of the Wildcats’ winning relays.  In the 200 medley relay, Martin combined with classmates Anna Stringfield, Alexa Richardson and Emily Castle to take first with a time of 1:51.01.  Martin then swam with Castle, Jean DeOrnellas and Jessica Delgehausen on the winning 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:35.34. 

 

Young helped FGCU to a pair of victories in its season-opening meet at Georgia Tech, as the Eagles defeated Florida Atlantic and Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon.  Young placed seventh in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 208.10, and followed that up with an eighth-place finish in the 3-meter diving competition with 208.30 points. 

 

Also nominated for women’s Swimmer of the Week: Jackie Kenline (Campbell), Leah Daniel (Florida Gulf Coast) and Ali Campbell (Georgia Southern).
