CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Florida’s Lyn Ann Nelson has been named the CCSA Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Julia Moomaw has been named the CCSA Women’s Diver of the Week, for meets competed Jan. 25-31, it was announced today by the League. 

 

Nelson, a junior from Omaha, Neb., won three of the four events she competed in last weekend as UNF defeated Florida Atlantic and Daytona State College.  Nelson began the day as the anchor leg of the 400 medley relay team that finished second with a time of 4:00.28, just seven tenths of a second back of first.  She then won the 1,000 free with a time of 10:34.99, nearly 13 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, and also claimed the 500 free title (5:08.98).  Nelson closed out her day swimming the anchor leg of the winning 400 free relay team that touched in 3:39.92. 

 

Moomaw, a freshman from Orlando, Fla., claimed top honors off the 1-meter boards while picking up a runner-up finish in the 3-meter diving this past weekend against Florida Atlantic and Daytona State College.  In the 1-meter event, Moomaw missed first-place by 2.55 points with a score of 239.55.  She turned around and earned first-place in the 3-meter competition with a score of 247.55 to easily win the event by 22.1 points.  Moomaw’s first-place finish gave the Ospreys the necessary points to secure its first-ever victory over Florida Atlantic.
