CCSA Weekend Recap: Campbell School Record Falls in Swimming Loss to Seahawks

WILMINGTON, N.C.—Sophomore Casey Umberger set a school-record in 100-butterfly and finished second but Campbell’s swimming team (5-8 overall, 4-5 in CCSA) fell to UNC Wilmington (5-8) 105-88 at Minges Aquatic Center.

Besides the record setting time in the 100-butterfly, Umberger also finished third in the 100-breast in a season-best time (1:10.43). The 400-freestyle relay team of Tammy Valcarcel, Umberger, Mary Beth Dellinger and Angela Croster finished finish second (3:57.11) in their event.
Led by senior Heidi Shallow’s first-place finish the Camels took the top three spots in the 200-breaststroke. Shallow has won an event in seven of her last eight meets dating back to Nov. 7th. Shallow also was on the 200-medley relay team (1:52.61) that finished second in their event,
The Camels were also the victors in the 400-freestyle relay (1:52.61) with a team comprised of Jackie Kenline, Sarah McSpadden, Patricia Jimenez and Kara Gerdeman.
Mary Beth Dellinger set a career record while finishing second (11:20.24). McCauley also set a season best in the 50-freestyle (27.00) and Croster bested the season record in the 100-freestyle (59.10).
Kenline took second in the 200-freestyle (1:58.46), Jimenez finished third in the 100-butterfly (1:01.39), and Mullican claimed third in the 200-backstroke (2:13.94).
The Seahawks were led by Michelle Schisa and Katie Godown who each won two events. Schisa won the 200-butterfly (2:11.11) and 100-butterfly (58.63). Godown won the 100-freestyle (53.24) and 50-freestyle (24.49).
