CCSA Announces Men’s Swimmer of the Week

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Davidson’s Drew Onken has been named the CCSA Men’s Swimmer of the Week for meets competed Nov. 30-Dec. 6, it was announced today by the League.  

 

Onken, a freshman from Marietta, Ga., earned five championship swims while posting career highs in six events for Davidson at last weekend’s Nike Invitational at Kenyon College.  His weekend was highlighted by a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 breaststroke (2:04.82) and 400 IM.  His time of 4:00.12 in the 400 IM is a CCSA and school record, breaking the previous League-best mark of 4:02.95 set by Dmitriy Gorin of College of Charleston in 2008-09.  Onken’s weekend also included a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM (1:53.78), seventh in the 200 backstroke (1:52.52), eighth in the 200 butterfly (1:53.52) and ninth in the 100 breaststroke (58.53).  In addition to his school record in the 400 IM, Onken earned Davidson all-time top-10 honors in the 200 butterfly (2nd), 200 breaststroke (3rd), 200 IM (4th), 200 back (5th) and 100 breaststroke (6th).
