CHARLOTTE, N.C. – College of Charleston’s Randy Buchanan has been named the CCSA Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Jamie Rodriguez has been named the CCSA Men’s Diver of the Week, for meets competed Jan. 25-31, it was announced today by the League. 

 

Buchanan, a senior from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., earned two individual victories as well as two relay wins last weekend to help the Cougars defeat Darton College, 207-88.  His individual performances were highlighted by a CCSA-best time of 21.17 in the 50 free, and a first-place finish in the 500 free (4:51.14).  In the relay events, Buchanan led off the winning 400 free relay with a split time of 48.42, and swam the breaststroke for the victorious 200 medley relay squad with a finishing time of 1:46.04.

 

Rodriguez, a senior from Goose Creek, S.C., posted season-high scores in both diving events in the Cougars’ 207-88 victory over Darton College this past weekend.  He took top honors in the 1-meter event with a score of 216.00 and placed third in the 3-meter competition with 194.25 points.
