NINETY SIX, S.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Coastal Carolina shot a team aggregate 15-under par 273 -- the lowest team round in Big South Men's Golf Championship history, and Gardner-Webb's Daniel Kim tied the Championship record for lowest individual round with a 63 during Tuesday's second round of the 2012 Big South Men's Golf Championship, which is being contested at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor (par 72, 7,120 yards) in Ninety Six, S.C.

Kim, which entered the day tied for sixth, sits in first place on the leaderboard at 11-under 133 following his record-tying performance.  He matched the mark of 63 that was established by Liberty's Yong Joo in 2000.  For the second-straight day, Kim started his day 5-under on the front nine and tallied five birdies.  He later eagled the par 5, 580-yard No. 13 hole to move to move to 6-under on the day, and added three birdies in his final five holes for his 9-under 63.  He enters the final round with a four-shot lead.

The Chanticleers had all five players finish in the 60s to move into sole possession of second-place at 558 and three shots behind 36-hole leader Liberty (555, 21-under par).  Coastal was led by Charlie Winegardner, Sebastian Soderberg and Peter Valasek with 68 each, while Ben Wheeler and Robert Ballesteros each carded 69.  The Chants bested their previous Championship record of 274 that was established in 2005 on the same course.

Liberty's Niklas Lindstrom posted a 64 on Tuesday to help the Flames stay ahead of the pack.  He also started with a 31 on the front nine, highlighted by an eagle on the par 5, 560-yard No. 5 hole.  Lindstrom made four consecutive birdies on holes 7-10, and after a bogey on No. 12, ended his day with three birdies on his final six holes.  First round leader Chase Marinell of Liberty finished with a 1-under 71 on Tuesday but dropped into a tie for fourth at 6-under 138.

Nearly 50 percent of the field - 21 of the 45 competitors, shot under par on Tuesday, including 15 individuals in the 60s.  After 36 holes, 17 players are under par and Kim is challenging the Championship record for lowest under-par 54-hole total (-12 by Dustin Johnson in 2007).

The Flames' two round score of 555 is the best 36-hole team score in the history of the Conference championship, breaking the previous best of 557 by Coastal Carolina in 2005.

Four teams were under-par during Tuesday's round -- Coastal Carolina (-15), Liberty (-13), Charleston Southern (-9) and Campbell (-9).  Overall, Charleston Southern sits in third-place at 564 (12-under), four strokes ahead of Campbell's 568 (8-under).  Host Winthrop is fifth at 580, just one shot ahead of Gardner-WebbRadford remains in seventh at 595, while High Point is eighth with a 598.  Presbyterian College is at 605 after 36 holes, but the Blue Hose's results do not officially count in the individual or team standings due to its continued transition to Division I.

Liberty, which is challenging the Conference Championship record of lowest 54-hole team score (851), is looking to win its second consecutive Big South Men's Golf Championship on Wednesday.  Final round action of the 2012 Big South Men's Golf Championship begins at 8:00am ET Wednesday and is free and open to the public.  Individual and team results can also be accessed online via GolfStat's "Live Scoring" feature.  Below are the current team scores and top 10 individual leaders:
