Ngongba to Head U.S. Virgin Insland Women's Senior National Team This Summer
RADFORD, Va. - For the second straight year, Radford head women's basketball coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba has been selected to coach the U.S. Virgin Islands Senior Women's National Team in competition this summer.

Ngongba will lead her squad in the Centro Basket Senior Women Championship in Morovis, Puerto Rico June 12-16, 2012.  Training camp for this event has commenced in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and will last until June 10th.

Ngongba's squad won the bronze medal in the 2011 CBC games to qualify for the Centro Basket Senior Women's Championship this summer.

"The experience last year at the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) games in Nassau, Bahamas was amazing," stated Ngongba.  "I was extremely proud of how hard we worked to earn a bronze medal. Usie Richards, President of the USVI Basketball Federation, did an outstanding job of providing the necessary resources for us to be successful. His leadership and efforts in the community is a valuable part of our ability to have a Senior Women's National Team represent the Virgin Islands. I am once again honored to coach these talented ladies, work with Mr. Richards and represent the Virgin Islands at Centrobasket 2012.

In addition, Ngongba announced rising senior guard/forward Victoria Hamilton (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands/Antilles School) will also compete on her squad.

"I am thrilled that Victoria will be playing this summer. I am confident she will bring a high level of energy, leadership and focus!"

Being a part of the USVI hoops team will be familiar for Ngongba, as she was a key player and team captain on the championship squad in 2002.  She also led the USVI Junior National Team to a gold medal in the 2001 Caricom Junior Basketball Championships in Nassau.
