Vaita Guillaume of Campbell University shot a four-over-par 75 in Tuesday's first round of the NCAA men's golf medal play championship at Riviera Country Club.  He stands eight shots behind leader Anton Arboleda (67) of UCLA.

Entering Wednesday's second round of the 54-hole event, Guillaume is tied for 81st place in the 156-golfer field.  The Big South Men's Golfer of the Year is the first Campbell player to ever participate in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship.

Guillaume finished in a 3-way tie for individual medalist honors at the NCAA Greensboro Regional, then won a one-hole playoff to earn one of six individual berths to the national tourney.

Guillaume opened his day with an eagle on the par-five first hole.  He birdied the par-four eighth and made the turn at plus-one 36.  He was three-over on the back nine of the par-71, 7292-yard Riviera layout.

Big South Conference team champion Liberty is tied for 15th in the 30-school field at 11-over 295.  Alabama (285) is the team leader, four strokes ahead of Florida and Auburn.
