Play was first halted at 9:10pm due to lightning in the top of the third inning with High Point leading, 2-1. Rain followed shortly thereafter and the call to suspend was made at 9:55pm.
Wednesday's remaining game schedule has been adjusted as follows:
Wednesday, May 23
Game 4: Resumption of No. 2 Campbell vs. No. 7 High Point, 9:30am
Game 5: No. 4 Gardner-Webb vs. No. 8 Charleston Southern, 45 minutes following Game 4
Game 6: No. 6 UNC Asheville vs. loser of CU-HPU, 45 minutes following Game 5
Game 7: No. 1 Coastal Carolina vs. No. 5 Radford, 45 minutes following Game 6
Game 8: No. 3 Liberty vs. winner of CU-HPU, TBA
Prior to the delay, High Point got on the scoreboard first with a run in the first inning. Willie Medina led off the game with a single, and after an out, stole second. Ryne Rush's groundout moved Medina to third, and Spencer Angelis's infield hit brought Medina home for the 1-0 lead. The Panthers made it 2-0 in the second inning on Mike Miedzianowski's run-scoring single that scored Sean Wilson from second.
Campbell got one of the runs back in the bottom of the second, as David Olson reached on an error and scored on Nick Ray's double to the gap in right-center. But Panthers' starter Ryan Retz picked Ray off second, got Ben Fish to ground out and struck out Erick Gaylord to end the inning and keep HPU ahead, 2-1.
The game was halted at 9:10pm due to a lightning strike just as High Point was prepared to bat in the top of the third.
