Big South Announces Women's Golfer of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Radford senior Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif.) has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Women's Golfer of the Week for events played the first week of the fall season, it was announced today by the Conference office.
Okamoto finished runner-up out of 80 participants at the Bucknell Women's Invitational (par 70, 5,863 yards) with an 8-over par 218 (72-73-73). It was the second runner-up finish of her career, and she tied her 18-hole career-low of 72 in the first round of the tournament. Okamoto's back-nine 32 on the first day was also the lowest of anyone in the event, and her 54-hole total 218 shattered her previous best score by 13 strokes.
Also nominated for Women's Golfer of the Week: Kasha Scott (Bucknell), Michelle Koh (Campbell), Amanda D'Ostroph (Charleston Southern), Kaitlin Higginbotham (Coastal Carolina), Lauren Smith (Gardner-Webb), Angela Gimenez (High Point), Kasay Holbrook (Presbyterian College).
