Big South Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( - No. 9 Coastal Carolina midfielder Pedro Ribeiro has been tabbed the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week, while Scott Sutarik of Liberty garnered the Defensive Player of the Week honor for games played Oct. 31-Nov. 6, the League announced today.

Ribeiro, a sophomore from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, netted three goals and a pair of assists to lead the ninth-ranked Chanticleers to a 2-0 record last week and the No. 1 seed in this week's Big South Men's Soccer Championship.  Against Presbyterian College on Nov. 2, Ribeiro assisted on Coastal Carolina's first goal of the contest and posted a score of his own in the 30th-minute as Coastal Carolina picked up the 3-0 win over the Blue Hose.  Three days later against Campbell, Ribeiro struck for two goals, including a bicycle kick in the 66th-minute and dished out one assist in the 5-1 win.  The honor marks his first Player of the Week nod of the season.

Sutarik, a freshman keeper from Palatine, Ill., notched four saves in the 3-0 win over Radford on Nov. 2.  He set the tone early in the contest as he turned away a Highlander attack from six yards out in the fifth minute of the contest.  He also came up big in the 19th minute with a stop on a point blank shot to keep Radford off the board.  The shutout marked his fourth shutout of the season and his first Defensive Player of the Week plaudit.
