Big South Announces Men's Golfers of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Charleston Southern senior Jacobo Pastor (Madrid, Spain) and High Point freshman Sam Stewart (Reisterstown, Md.) have been selected the Choice Hotels Big South Men's Co-Golfers of the Week for events played Feb. 27-March 8, it was announced today by the Conference office.
Pastor was the individual runner-up out of 90 golfers at the Feb. 27-28 Charleston Shootout (par 72, 6,934 yards) with a 9-under 207 (67-70-70) -- one stroke behind the medalist. He spent time tied for the top spot after the first round and sat in second after 36 holes. Pastor had 11 birdies on day one and carded another 70 in the final round to finish second as well as help the Buccaneers to a fourth-place standing.
Stewart was the individual medalist earlier this week at the Lonnie Barton Invitational (par 72, 6,987 yards) with a 1-under 143 (72-71) to help the Panthers repeat as the event's team champion. He was the lone golfer to finish the tournament under par and won by five strokes.
