Big South Announces Men's Golfer of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Campbell freshman Andrew Gai (Westport, Conn.) has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Men'sGolfer of the Week for events played the first week of the fall season, it was announced today by the Conference office.
In his first collegiate start, Gai led Campbell to the team championship by finishing second individually at the Golfweek Program Challenge (par 72, 6,940 yards) at True Blue Plantation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He carded a 13-under par 203 (64-69-70) to lead the Camels to the program's lowest 54-hole team total in its history (833 strokes, 31-under par) and a seven-stroke victory. Gai, who tallied 20 birdies in the tournament, tied a school-record for low round in his first 18 holes, shooting an 8-under 64. His 36-hole total of 133 strokes tied for second-lowest in school history, while his 54-hole tally (203) also was the second-lowest in the program record books.
