Big South Announces Indoor T&F Athletes of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - UNC Asheville's Milan Ristic has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Jennifer Klugh of Liberty earned the Big South Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.  Meanwhile, VMI's Ademola Titcombe and Mychelle Cummings of Liberty were tabbed the Men's and Women's Indoor Field Athletes of the week, respectively, the League announced today.

Ristic, a sophomore from Belgrade, Serbia, turned in a school record time of 7.47 to win the 55-meter hurdles at the Appalachian State Invitational over the weekend.  He picked up the win at a regionally strong field that included runners from South Carolina.

Klugh, a senior from Centerburg, Ohio, crossed the line in 17:22.9 to take home first-place in the 5K at the Liberty Invitational.  The win marked the third-straight year that she has won the event at the meet.

Titcombe, a senior from Alexandria, Va., posted the second-best long jump in Big South history with a leap of 24' 2.25" at the Liberty Invitational last weekend.  His personal-record jump won the event by over a foot.

Cumings, a freshman from Madison, Tenn., won the shot-put at the Liberty Invitational with a school-record throw of 45' 1.00".  She also placed seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 47' 8.00".  Her weight throw mark is currently ranked No. 8 in Liberty history.

Men's Track Honorable Mentions:
Avery Scott, Winthrop - Won the 200-meter event at the Appalachian State Invitational with a time of 22.27.
Joseph Betts, Radford - Took first in the 200 meters with a time of 22.28 at the Liberty Invitational.
Taylor Courtney, Liberty - Won the 500-meter event at the Liberty Invitational.

Men's Field Honorable Mentions:
Antonio Wood, VMI - Won the heptathlon at the Liberty Invitational.
Kolby Shepherd, Liberty - Took first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.95 meters at the Liberty Invitational.
Travis Rogers, Gardner-Webb - Won the weight throw at the Appalachian State Invitational with a throw of 18.22 meters.

Women's Track Honorable Mentions:
Melanie Kulesz, UNC Asheville - Placed first in the mile at the Appalachian State Invitational with a time of 5:14.

Women's Field Honorable Mentions:
Mariam Abdullah, Winthrop - Won the long jump at the Appalachian State Invitational with a jump of 5.59 meters.
Jennifer Sing, VMI - Placed second in the pole vault with a leap of 3.75 meters at the Liberty Invitational.
Jasmine Miles, Gardner-Webb - Won the weight throw with a mark of 15.62 meters at the Appalachian State Invitational.
