Big South Announces Football Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( - Stony Brook running back Miguel Maysonet (Riverhead, N.Y.) has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb linebacker Tanner Burch (Savannah, Ga.) has been selected as Defensive Player of the Week for games played the third week of the regular-season.  GWU punter Bo Lindsey (Spartanburg, S.C.) is the Special Teams Player of the Week, and Liberty quarterback Josh Woodrum (Roanoke, Va.) is The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week.

Maysonet rushed 21 times for 158 yards and a touchdown in Stony Brook's loss at Syracuse.  He averaged 7.5 yards per carry and added a 71-yard touchdown run that gave the Seawolves a 17-14 advantage late in the second quarter.  It was his 14th career 100-yard rushing game as he eclipsed 3,000 career rushing yards at SBU.

Burch posted a career-high 16 tackles (6 solo, 10 assisted) and had a fumble recovery and pass break-up against Samford.  His fumble recovery halted a Samford drive at the GWU 30-yard line, and he helped limit the Bulldogs to 107 yards in the second half.  Burch had a critical third down stop early in the fourth quarter that led to a Gardner-Webb scoring drive, and had a pass break-up on third down in the same period to end another Samford threat.

Lindsey averaged 42.7 yards on six punts against Samford.  He pinned two inside the 20-yard line, and had four punts of at least 46 yards -- including two that traveled 52 and 57 yards.  The Bulldogs managed three returns on his six kicks, with just two going for positive yards.

Woodrum made his first collegiate start and was 34-of-44 passing ( =77.3 percent) for 322 yards and two touchdowns at nationally-ranked Montana.  His 34 completions set a Liberty single-game record and tied for third-most in Big South history.  The redshirt-freshman completed passes to nine different receivers, including a 14-yard TD pass to Pat Kelly and a 31-yard scoring strike to Ryan Ferguson.  Woodrum threw for 15 first downs and had five completions of more than 20 yards.
