Big South Announces Cross Country Runners of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Campbell's Delohnni Nicol-Samuel and Michelle Church of VMI have been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week, respectively, the League announced today.
Nicole-Samuel, a junior from Brandon, Manitoba, out-paced the field at the UNC Wilmington Duel to finish first with a time of 15:24 over the 5K course. His time was a personal-best as he finished nearly 10 seconds ahead of second-place.
Church, a freshman from Martinsville, Va., clocked in at 24:08 to finish second on the hilly 6K course at the Washington & Lee Invitational. Her finish propelled her squad to the team championship at the event.
Men's Honorable Mentions:
Alex Solis, Charleston Southern - Posted a personal-best 26:23 to finish as the 9th collegiate runner at the 8K College of Charleston Invitational.
Noah Hagos, VMI - Finished first at the Washington & Lee Invitational with a 28:11 8K.
Chris Weeks, Radford - Bettered his personal-record time by 32 seconds as he finished 28th at the Lou Onesty Open with a time of 27:30.80.
Mike McClay, Gardner-Webb - Finished 5th at the Charlotte Duels with a 15:51.10 5K.
Women's Honorable Mentions:
Rachel Deline, Campbell - Turned in a second-place 5K time of 18:37 at the UNC Wilmington Invitational.
Teresa Williamson, Radford - Came in 11th at the Lou Onesty Open with a time of 19:51.30 on the 5K course.
Ariel Zimmerman, Gardner-Webb - Finished 10th at the Charlotte Duels with a 5K time of 19:28.48.
