CONWAY - Coastal Carolina University Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek announced that head volleyball coach Kristen Bauer has tendered her resignation, effective immediately.

"I would like to thank Kristen for her service to Coastal Carolina University," Yurachek said. "Coastal volleyball has experienced its share of success on the court over her 13 years and has certainly been exemplary in the classroom. We look forward to the next chapter in Coastal Carolina volleyball history and, with the new Student Recreation and Convocation Center opening next season, know this opening will generate great interest from across the country."

Assistant coaches Tucker Short and Stephen Yates will manage the day to day operations until a new head coach is hired.

Bauer began her coaching career at Coastal Carolina in 1999 after serving as an assistant coach at East Tennessee State from 1995-1998. During her 13 years as head coach at Coastal, Bauer led the Chants to a 223-196 record. Bauer helped guide Coastal to the NCAA Tournament in 2009 after winning the Big South Tournament as the four seed. Coastal ended the 2008 season as regular season co-Champions in the Big South conference, following a 13-3 record, while posting a 27-9 overall record. Bauer was named Big South Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2000.

During her time at Coastal, Jeanne Lambert, Katherine Jensen-Spencer, Jill Nyhof and Chelsy Kimes won a total of six Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards.

This past season, Coastal Carolina posted a 13-20 overall record, while going 5-9 in the Big South to finish seventh.
