The Big South football season continues this Saturday with two Conference games on the slate: VMI at Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb at Stony Brook.  A printable version of this preview is available below in .pdf format.

THE SERIES:  This is the eighth meeting between the schools.  VMI leads the series, 4-3.

KEYDET KICKS:  The Keydets are looking for their first win over the Buccaneers since 2005 and their first victory over CSU in Charleston since 2002 ... VMI is looking to end a six-game Conference road losing streak as well ... Of VMI’s 25 pass completions this season, 10 have gone for touchdowns (40.0 percent) ... MICHAEL RAINEY-WILES has five receptions for 127 yards and four touchdowns this season ... QB TIM MAYPRAY is 159 rushing yards shy of becoming the first quarterback in Big South history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

BUCCANEER BULLETS:  Charleston Southern has won the last two meetings, winning 37-28 in 2007 and 27-22 in 2006 ... After playing six of their first eight games on the road, the Buccaneers return home for three straight games ... Charleston Southern is looking to win three consecutive home games for the first time since its Big South-record 12-game home winning streak spanning the 2005-07 seasons ... GERALD STEVENSON needs four kickoff returns to tie the Big South career record of 60 ... MARKUS MURRY is 37 receiving yards away from cracking the League’s Top 10.

THE SERIES:  This is the sixth meeting between the schools.  Presbyterian leads the series, 3-2.  It will not be an official Conference game this season.

FLAMES FACTS:  Liberty is looking to extend its Big South record for longest road winning streak to six games ... The Flames won last year’s meeting, 48-14, which was the first meeting between the schools since 1985 ... RASHAD JENNINGS has rushed for 100 yards in a Big South-record eight consecutive games ... Jennings has scored a touchdown in his last five games, totaling 11 TDs in that span ... Liberty is first in the nation in third-down conversions at 54.7 percent ... DOMINIC BOLDEN leads the Big South with an 18.9 yards per catch average.

BLUE HOSE BANTER:  Presbyterian is facing its fourth nationally-ranked opponent of the season ... The Blue Hose won three consecutive meetings with Liberty from 1983-85, and are 1-1 against the Flames in Clinton ... PC has won eight of its last nine home games ... QB BRANDON MILEY is 59-of-94 passing ( =62.8 percent) for 580 yards and three touchdowns since replacing the injured TIM WEBB during the North Greenville game on Oct. 4 ... BRANDON CLARK has 26 receptions for 239 yards and two TDs in his last three games.

THE SERIES:  This is the first meeting between the schools.  It will be Stony Brook’s sixth first-time opponent this season, and Gardner-Webb’s first opponent from the State of New York.

BULLDOG BITES:  Gardner-Webb is 4-0 this season when leading at the half ... The Runnin’ Bulldogs are challenging the Big South record for total defense, as Gardner-Webb’s 309.0 season average leads the League and is just behind Liberty’s record of 306.6 in 2006 ... WR DOBSON COLLINS has caught a pass in his last 19 games, and has 31 catches for 441 yards and five TDs in his last four games ... Collins needs one more reception to move into the Big South’s all-time Top 10 ... LB JEFFREY WILLIAMS has recorded 37 tackles in his last two games.

SEAWOLF SHOUT-OUTS:  Stony Brook needs one more Big South win to clinch a winning Conference season ... The Seawolves have recovered five fumbles in their last two games ... Stony Brook has trailed in all three of its wins this season ... CONTE CUTTINO has rushed for 100 yards in his last two games, and is third in the Big South with 612 rushing yards ... WR DWAYNE ELEY has 20 receptions for 292 yards and four touchdowns in his last four games ... SBU is looking to win three consecutive League games for the first time since winning four-straight NEC games in 2006.
