CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Longwood forward Lindsey Ottavio has been tabbed the Big South Women's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week, while Campbell goalkeeper Ryann Torrero was named the Big South Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games Aug. 20-26, the League announced today.
Ottavio, a senior from Fairfax, Va., put in a pair of goals to lead Longwood to the 2-1win over Richmond on Aug. 24. Her first goal of the contest came in the 64th minute as she beat the Richmond defense and keeper up the middle. After a Spider equalizer, Ottavio collected a loose ball and beat the keeper one-on-one in the 100th minute to give the Lancers the 2-1 win. The honor is Longwood's first-ever Big South Player of the Week award in the school's history.
Torrero, a redshirt-senior from Burbank, Calif., posted a pair of saves as Campbell tied Francis Marion 1-1 on Aug. 24. Both saves came in the second overtime on back-to-back shots in the six yard box. The honor is her first Big South Defensive Player of the Week selection.
