The Big South Conference Has Record Turnout for 5K Road Race

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - The 3rd annual Big South 5K Road Race presented by Keffer Auto and TrySports saw a record number of participants this year with nearly 1,200 registered runners in the event.  In a race to benefit local middle school athletics, the event had runners from over 40 middle schools in the Mecklenburg/Union county school districts with 120 middle school age participants in the race.

The race was won by two-time Olympian Anthony Famigleitti of Davidson, N.C. who crossed the line in 13:40.  In second was former Big South Track and Field standout Matt Elliott from Rock Hill, S.C. with a time of 13:58.  Brandon Hudgins from Rock Hill, S.C. rounded out the top three as he clocked in at 14:40.

The top female runner was Amanda Morris of Tega Cay, S.C. with a time of 18:34.  Lauren Titlton from Charlotte, N.C. was the second female runner to cross the line as she clocked in at 19:08.  Andrienne Anetrini of Charlotte, N.C. closed out the top three for the women with a time of 19:22.
