CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Liberty's David Ricksecker and Jeanne Stroud of Winthrop have been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week, respectively, the League announced today.
Ricksecker, a senior from Laurel, Del., posted a personal-best 8K time of 24:07 to take first-place out of 189 runners at the Charlotte Challenge over the weekend. His time paced the Flames to the team championship at the event.
Stroud, a junior from Charleston, S.C., won The Citadel Invitational with a course record time of 17:27 on the 5K course. She finished 15 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher as the Eagles took home the team title.
Men's Honorable Mentions:
Andrey Dmitriev, VMI - Finished ninth at the Blue Ridge Open with an 8K personal-best time of 24:58.
Women's Honorable Mentions:
Emma Bussard, UNC Asheville - Placed 21st at the Pre-National meet in the unseeded raced with a 6K time of 21:52. Her time ranks No. 3 All-Time on the UNC Asheville list.
Jenna Moye, VMI - Placed fourth at the Blue Ridge Open with a personal-best time of 18:06 on the 5K course.
Kayleigh Perry, High Point - Placed sixth at the Blue Ridge Open with a 5K time of 18:20.
Gabby Lesieur, Presbyterian College - Ran a personal-best 20:25 to finish ninth on the 5K course at the USC Upstate Invitational.
