CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) has named 20 Big South football players to its 2012 FCS Awards Watch List. Stony Brook led the conference with 5 selections: Kyle Essington, Miguel Maysonet, Marcus Coker, Davonte Anderson, and Wesley Skiffington. Coastal Carolina had four players named to the Watch List: Aramis Hillary, David Duran, Andrae Jacobs, and Niccolo Mastromatteo. Gardner-Webb also had four selections: Kenny Little, Preston Pemasa, Trever Austin, and Ricky Rhodes.
Liberty's Kevin Fogg and Walt Aikens, Charleston Southern's Charles James and Nathan Perera, VMI's Trent White and Mario Thompson, and Presbyterian's Patrick Morgano also made the list.
Of the 20 players named to the CFPA Watch List, Maysonet, James, and Fogg have all been selected in multiple categories.
Since its inception, four Big South players have earned annual CFPA honors: Liberty's Chris Summers and Kevin Fogg, Charleston Southern's Gerald Stevenson, and Presbyterian's Justin Bethel. Fogg is the conference's lone returning recipient for 2012.
College Football Performance Awards is the largest awards organization in Division I college football. All recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Last season, nine CFPA recipients were selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
