CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Stony Brook running back Brock Jackolski (Shirley, N.Y.) has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Coastal Carolina safety Philip George (Columbia, S.C.) has been selected as Defensive Player of the Week for games played the 11th week of the regular-season. Coastal Carolina kick return specialist Niccolo Mastromatteo (Ortonville, Mich.) is the Special Teams Player of the Week and Stony Brook center Mike Lisi (Franklin Square, N.Y.) is The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week.
Jackolski set a Big South single-game record with five touchdowns and 30 points scored in Stony Brook's record-setting 76-28 win over Gardner-Webb. He rushed for four touchdowns -- tying a single-game League record, and caught a TD pass while amassing 192 all-purpose yards. Jackolski returned the opening kickoff 78 yards and later scored from 1-yard out to give the Seawolves an early 7-0 lead. He added an 18-yard scoring run and 7-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter, and capped his day with touchdown runs of 53 and 30 yards in the fourth quarter.
George had a career-high seven tackles in Coastal's 45-38 win at Charleston Southern, in addition to an interception, one quarterback sack and a forced fumble. After the Chanticleers threw an interception in the second quarter, George recorded a sack-fumble on the very next play that CCU recovered and returned to the 15-yard line. With less than a minute remaining and Coastal clinging to its seven-point lead, George picked off a pass at the Chants' 1-yard line and returned it 16 yards to seal the win over the Buccaneers.
Mastromatteo returned two kickoffs for 64 yards and two punts for 14 yards at Charleston Southern, averaging 19.5 yards on his four kick returns. After Charleston Southern tied that game at 31-31, Mastromatteo returned the ensuing kickoff a season-long 40 yards to the CSU 49-yard line, and the Chanticleers scored five plays later to take the lead for good. He also became the Big South's career leader for punt returns during the game.
Lisi, who has started all 10 games at center as a true freshman, helped the Stony Brook offense to a Big South single-game record 76 points in the Seawolves' victory over Gardner-Webb. Lisi was one of the main blockers that helped SBU rush for 315 yards and finish with 505 yards of offense against the Runnin' Bulldogs, in addition to the having two 100-yard rushers for the third consecutive game.
