Big South Conference football concludes this Saturday, Nov. 17 with three League games, including Liberty at VMI on ESPN3 and Charleston Southern at Coastal Carolina on MASN -- games that will help determine the Big South's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs.  A printable version of this preview is available to the right and below.

PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE BLUE HOSE (2-8, 0-5 Big South) at GARDNER-WEBB RUNNIN' BULLDOGS (2-8, 1-4 Big South) • Spangler Stadium • 1:30pm • Big South Network presented by State Farm

THE SERIES:  This is the 35th meeting between the schools.  The series is tied, 17-17.

BLUE HOSE BANTER:  Presbyterian College won the last meeting, a 28-14 home victory last season ... The Blue Hose are seeking just their fifth overall road win since 2007 ... LB DONELLE WILLIAMS needs 11 tackles for his first career 100-tackle season ... RB DEMARCUS ROUSE is looking to become the first PC player with 10 rushing touchdowns in a season since 1978 ... MICHAEL RUFF is second in the Big South with a 22.0 kickoff return average ... RB LANCE BYRD ranks sixth in the Conference with 641 rushing yards.

BULLDOG BITES:  Gardner-Webb has never finished the Big South schedule with just one win ... QB LUCAS BEATTY has thrown for 750 yards and seven touchdowns in the last three games.  His 2,244 passing yards this season leads the Big South ... J.J. HUBBARD leads the Conference with a 22.1 kickoff return average ... TE SETH CRANFILL needs four catches to become the first tight end in Big South history with 40 receptions in a season ... RB KENNY LITTLE needs 39 rushing yards for 2,000 in his career.


LIBERTY FLAMES (5-5, 4-1 Big South) at VMI KEYDETS (2-8, 1-4 Big South) • Foster Stadium • 1:30pm • ESPN3

THE SERIES:  This is the 12th meeting between the schools.  The Flames lead the series, 8-3.

FLAMES FACTS:  Liberty can clinch a share of the Big South football championship with a victory Saturday, which would be its fifth in the last six seasons ... A victory coupled with a Coastal Carolina loss would give the Flames the Big South's automatic berth in the FCS Playoffs ... Liberty has won the last six meetings with the Keydets ... LB NICK SIGMON has recorded 6.0 TFLs in his last two games and has made 17 total stops in that span (14 solo) ... WR PAT KELLY needs six catches to become the second Big South player with 80 in a season.

KEYDET KICKS:  VMI last defeated Liberty in 2005, a 10-7 victory in Lynchburg, while its last win over the Flames at home was in 2002 ... QB ERIC KORDENBROCK has recorded two 80-yard pass plays this season and a Big South-record four in his career ... Kordenbrock (408) needs 12 pass completions to move into ninth on the Conference's all-time list ... DT CHARLIE JONES has 20 tackles and 5.5 tackles-for-loss in his last three games ... LBs WESTON REBER and LOGAN STAIB rank fourth and fifth in the Big South in tackles, respectively.


CHARLESTON SOUTHERN BUCCANEERS (5-5, 3-2 Big South) at COASTAL CAROLINA CHANTICLEERS (6-4, 4-1 Big South) • Brooks Stadium • 3:30pm • MASN, Big South Network presented by State Farm

THE SERIES:  This is the 10th meeting between the schools.  Coastal Carolina leads the series, 6-3.

BUCCANEER BULLETS:  Charleston Southern is looking to win four Big South games for the first time since 2009 and the second time overall.  That season was also the last time CSU finished with a winning record ... The Buccaneers are seeking an end to their 8-game losing streak in Big South road games ... In his last five games, QB MALCOLM DIXON is 33-of-45 passing for 581 yards and five TDs with no interceptions.  He has also rushed for 277 yards and five scores in that span ... CSU is fourth nationally in pass defense (149.90).

CHANTICLEER CROWS:  Coastal Carolina can clinch a share of the Big South football championship with a win Saturday, which would be the fifth in the program's 10-year history ... A victory coupled with a Liberty win would give the Chanticleers the Big South's automatic berth in the FCS Playoffs ... Coastal has won its four Big South games in succession and each by more than 20 points (32.8 average) ... CCU has scored 120 points and gained 1,221 yards in the past two games, and has surpassed 200 rushing yards in five-straight contests.


#12/13 STONY BROOK SEAWOLVES (9-2, 5-1 Big South) idle

  • Stony Brook has its bye week this Saturday as the Seawolves' regular-season is complete.
  • The Seawolves have clinched at least a share of the Big South title and can still capture the Conference's automatic berth in the FCS Playoffs with a Liberty loss this Saturday.
  • RB MIGUEL MAYSONET has posted Big South season records for rushing (1,721), TDs (21) and rush TDs (19).
  • WR KEVIN NORRELL has established the Big South season record for receiving yards with 1,291.
