CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Liberty forward Jaime Bouffard has been tabbed the Big South Women's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week, while Winthrop goalkeeper Amelia Henderson was named the Big South Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played Sept. 10-16, the League announced today.
Bouffard, a freshman from Oswego, N.Y., recorded two game-winning goals to lead the Lady Flames to a 2-0 record last week. Her first goal of the week came against George Washington on Sept. 14 as she found the back of the net in the 63rd minute off a Megan Warner cross. Two days later against South Carolina State, Bouffard connected on the top shelf in the 36rd minute. The honor is her first Big South Attacking Player of the Week selection this season.
Henderson, a red-shirt freshman from Mount Pleasant, S.C., recorded eight saves and 180 minutes of shutout soccer to help the Eagles to a 2-0 record last week. She got her week started with five saves as Winthrop defeated The Citadel, 1-0 on Sept. 12. She followed with three saves in Winthrop's 2-0 win over Francis Marion on Sept. 14. The honor marks her first Defensive Player of the Week nod this season.
Also nominated for Women's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week for Week 5: Ashley Clark (Campbell), Toni Lashley (Charleston Southern), Shelby Hooe (Gardner-Webb) and Krystyna Freda (Winthrop).
Also nominated for Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5: Jeannie Borda (Campbell), Caitlin Cody (Charleston Southern), Karen Blocker (Liberty) and Jordan Broadway (Presbyterian College).
