CONWAY, S.C. -- Big South Defensive Player of the Week Dontavais Johnson of Coastal Carolina added National FCS Defensive Player of the Week honors this afternoon from The Sports Network following his three interception performance in Coastal's season-opening win over North Carolina A&T.

Earlier Monday, Johnson was named National Defensive Performer of the Week by CollegeFootballPerformance.com.

Johnson entered the season with no career interceptions and just three pass break-ups in his first three seasons. A ll of that changed against North Carolina A&T as the Coastal Carolina senior recorded three interceptions and one pass break-up in the Chanticleers' 29-13 victory.  Johnson had two picks in the first half, one leading to a Coastal Carolina touchdown and one to a Chanticleers field goal that gave CCU a 17-0 advantage.  He added a pass break-up to force an Aggie field goal and sealed the game with a pick on North Carolina A&T's final drive of the game.
