The 11th season of Big South Conference football kicks off this Saturday, Sept. 1 with all seven teams in action, including four games on the Big South Network presented by State Farm.  In addition, Liberty's opener at Wake Forest will be carried on ESPN3.  A printable version of this preview is available to the right and below.

Brevard Tornados (0-0) at PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE BLUE HOSE (0-0) • Bailey Memorial Stadium • 2:00pm • Big South Network presented by State Farm

• This is the first meeting between the schools, and marks the first of two first time opponents for PC this year.
• Presbyterian starts the season at home for the second-straight year, and last won its season opener in 2006.
• RB LANCE BYRD needs 51 rushing yards to become the 12th player in Big South history with 2,000.
• WR MICHAEL RUFF needs 42 receiving yards for 1,000 in his career.
• Presbyterian College is in its first season as a full-fledged Division I program.

VMI KEYDETS (0-0) at Delaware State Hornets (0-0) • Alumni Stadium • 2:00pm

• This is the second meeting between the schools. Delaware State won the first meeting last year, 24-21.
• VMI is opening the season on the road for the first time since 2004.
• The Keydets are 74-45-2 all-time in season openers, and have averaged 29.3 points in the last seven.
• QB ERIC KORDENBROCK's 2,515 career passing yards are most among the Big South's active quarterbacks.
• The Keydets are playing in the state of Delaware for the first time since Oct. 10, 1976.

CHARLESTON SOUTHERN BUCCANEERS (0-0) at The Citadel Bulldogs (0-0) • Johnson Hagood Stadium • 6:00pm

• This is the sixth meeting between the schools, but first meeting since 2007. The Citadel leads the series, 4-1.
• Charleston Southern's lone win in the series was a 38-35 double-overtime victory in 2006.
• CSU is opening the season on the road for the eighth time in the last nine seasons.
• Charleston Southern is opening the campaign against an FCS member for the first time since 2007.
• The Buccaneers are looking to snap a 12-game losing streak Saturday.

North Carolina A&T Aggies (0-0) at COASTAL CAROLINA CHANTICLEERS (0-0) • Brooks Stadium • 6:00pm • Big South Network presented by State Farm

• This is the fourth meeting between the schools. Coastal Carolina leads the series, 3-0.
• The game marks the collegiate head coaching debut of Coastal head coach JOE MOGLIA.
• Coastal Carolina has averaged 26.3 points in its three wins over the Aggies, while holding NCA&T to 9.3 points.
• The Chanticleers are opening the season at home for the second-straight year and fourth time overall (2-1).
• TE DAVID DURAN needs two receptions to break the Big South career record for tight ends.

#10/13 Wofford Terriers (0-0) at GARDNER-WEBB RUNNIN' BULLDOGS (0-0) • Spangler Stadium • 6:00pm • Big South Network presented by State Farm

• This is the 22nd meeting between the schools, but first meeting since 2007. Wofford leads the series, 15-6.
• Gardner-Webb's last win in the series came 25 seasons ago, a 36-3 win on Nov. 21, 1987 in Spangler Stadium.
• The Runnin' Bulldogs have won three consecutive season openers and are 7-3 in openers since 2002.
• RB KENNY LITTLE needs 119 rushing yards for 1,500 in his career.
• DL PRESTON PEMASA needs 2.0 TFL to become the 10th player in Big South history with 30 career TFL.

Central Connecticut State Blue Devils (0-0) at #17/17 STONY BROOK SEAWOLVES (0-0) • LaValle Stadium • 6:00pm • Big South Network presented by State Farm

• This is the 11th meeting between the schools. Stony Brook leads the series, 7-3.
• The teams last played in 2007, a 34-7 Seawolves win, and SBU has never lost at home to CCSU.
• Stony Brook is opening the season at home for the first time since 2008 -- its last season-opening win.
• RB MIGUEL MAYSONET (2,761) needs 100 rushing yards to move into 4th on the Big South's all-time list.
• The Seawolves carry a six-game home winning streak into Saturday's game, averaging 41.3 points in that span.

LIBERTY FLAMES (0-0) at Wake Forest Demon Deacons (0-0) • BB&T Field • 6:30pm • ESPN3

• This is the second meeting between the schools. Wake Forest won the first meeting, 34-14, in 2006.
• The game marks the FCS head coaching debut of Liberty head coach TURNER GILL.
• Liberty is playing its season opener on the road for the third time in four years -- all at FBS opponents.
• The Flames' last season-opening win on the road was in 1988 (17-7 at Edinboro, Sept. 3).
• RB SIRCHAUNCEY HOLLOWAY is tied for 11th in Big South history with 21 career rushing touchdowns.
