CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Liberty running back Aldreakis Allen (Colbert, Ga.) and Stony Brook running back Miguel Maysonet (Riverhead, N.Y.) have been named the Choice Hotels Big South Football Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Gardner-Webb linebacker Tanner Burch (Savannah, Ga.) has been selected as Defensive Player of the Week for games played the seventh week of the regular-season. Runnin' Bulldogs kick returner J.J. Hubbard (Tampa, Fla.) is the Special Teams Player of the Week, and Charleston Southern wide receiver Larry Jones III (Jacksonville, Fla.) is The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week.
Allen rushed for a career-high 183 yards on 13 carries and tied the Big South single-game record with four rushing touchdowns in the Flames' road win at Presbyterian College. He averaged 14.1 yards per carry, did not have a rush go for negative yards and had five rushes of 10 yards-or-longer -- including three over 30 yards. Allen scored on runs of 59, 10, 35 and 5 yards against the Blue Hose.
Maysonet rushed for a career-high 233 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns in the Seawolves' road win at Coastal Carolina. He gained 199 yards in the second half, which included runs of 58 and 64, and his two scores came in the final 24 minutes of the game that gave Stony Brook the lead both times.
Burch posted a career-high 18 tackles, including 10 solo stops, as well as two tackles-for-loss, one pass break-up and one quarterback hurry in leading Gardner-Webb to its first victory of the season. One of his stops behind the line came on a fourth-and-inches play in the fourth quarter that gave GWU the ball back for the game-winning drive.
Hubbard tallied 171 kick return yards on four returns to help Gardner-Webb's field position. His 50-yard punt return with 44 seconds left in the first half set-up a GWU touchdown and a 23-14 halftime lead. He averaged 40.3 yards on his three kickoff returns, one of which was a 63-yarder that led to another offensive touchdown.
Jones III caught two passes for 82 yards in Charleston Southern's Big South win over VMI -- scoring touchdowns on both catches. His first career score was a 31-yard reception that gave the Bucs a 13-0 first quarter lead. Jones III added his second touchdown late in the first half on a 51-yard halfback pass and fought his way the final 10 yards to reach the end zone to give CSU a 19-7 halftime advantage.
