Sherika Montgomery, Assistant Director of Compliance

Sherika Montgomery begins her third year with the Big South Conference office following her promotion to Assistant Director of Compliance in June 2011.  She spent the 2010-11 season as the Conference's Administrative/Compliance Intern.

In her role, she is responsible for maintaining the Big South Conference's National Letter of Intent database as well as handling NCAA rules interpretations and waivers.  Montgomery also administers institutional compliance reviews, compliance rules education and assists with the Big South Conference's Student Athlete Advisory Committee.  She also coordinates the Big South's annual Presidential Honor Roll.

Montgomery joined the Big South Conference Office in the summer of 2010 after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management from fellow Conference member Gardner-Webb.  She was responsible for maintaining the League’s National Letter of Intent database, as well as all information related to the NCAA Special Assistance Fund and the NCAA Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund.  Montgomery also assisted with member institution compliance reviews and interpretations, in addition to preparation and management of special League events. 

While at GWU, Montgomery served as an intern in the athletic department where she assisted the Senior Women’s Administrator and oversaw compliance tasks.  Montgomery was a four-year letterwinner in women’s basketball and a three-time team captain.  She averaged 2.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in her career and was a member of the 2009-10 Big South regular-season championship squad.  Montgomery, who served as Vice President of Gardner-Webb’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) from 2007-09, earned her Master's Degree in Sports Science and Pedagogy this past May from Gardner-Webb.
