CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - Radford sophomore Nick Sayer (Hong Kong) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while Campbell's Adrien Rossignon (Arlon, Belgium) has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for matches played Jan. 16-22, it was announced today by the League office.
Sayer finished the weekend 2-0 in singles play at the top position while helping the Highlanders to wins over Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech. Against Chattanooga on Jan. 20, Sayer defeated Roberto Vieira (6-4, 6-3) to help Radford to a 7-0 win. A day later vs. Tennessee Tech, the sophomore defeated Syrym Abdukhailikov, 7-6, 6-4.
Rossignon finished 2-0 in the No. 2 singles spot as Campbell beat Drexel before falling to VCU last weekend. On Jan. 20, the freshman earned his first victory as a Camel, defeating Drexel's Jeganathan Scrinivasan (6-4, 6-3). He then topped No. 47 Max Wennakoski of VCU (4-6, 6-4, 10-8) to become the first-ever Campbell freshman to knock off a nationally-ranked opponent.
